The subject of the invention is a servicing appliance for yarn-piecing or bobbin-changing on open-end rotor-spinning machines, with a suction pipe 2 for sucking in the yarn wound on the bobbin, with a piecing head 4 and with at least one arm 5, provided with a guide head 7, for transferring the yarn from the suction pipe to the piecing head. In order to avoid the idling of the servicing appliance after the suction pipe or the guide head has not taken over the yarn in the given work cycle, since it is absent, at least the transfer arm is provided on its guide head with a sensor 8 for monitoring the presence of the yarn, the sensor 8 being coupled to a control system 34 of the servicing appliance. <IMAGE>
