摘要 Telecommunications cables having optical and/or electrical transmission elements frequently have plastic fibres running longitudinally in the cable in order to increase the tensile strength of the cable. This reinforcement must be attached to the end of the cable in a retaining sleeve (3) which absorbs the tension on the cable. Until now, the cable reinforcement was eithe end of the cabd in the retaining sleeve, or was bonded in it in extended form. However, in the case of certain plastic, the difficulty arises of the adhesive which is used not providing sufficiently good adhesion. The object thus exists of creating a method for fastening the cable reinforcement, by means of which the plastic fibres can easily and reliably be fastened in the retaining sleeve (3). The problem is solved by at least one cured or curable injection-moulding material being injected into the retaining sleeve such that the ends (2) of the plastic fibres are blown out like a screen and are fixed in this position. In consequence, a high-tensile-strength connection is produced between the plastic fibres (1) and the retaining sleeve (3). The said method can be used in the production of terminations for optical waveguide cables. <IMAGE>
