This invention discloses an electrically driven elevation bed. The elevation bed includes an improved driving system and safety devices for the driving system. The driving system includes steel belts, as cord members, to hang the bed frame from to make the driving system compact and to eliminate problems encountered with wire ropes. The driving system can comprise a spring to store biasing force on a supporting shaft thereof for the ascending of the bed frame. The driving system allows the bed frame to be inclined by introducing clutch means in the driving system to raise one side of the bed only. An important aspect of the invention is a locating device for the bed frame which enables the regulation of vertical movement. The various safety devices can detect the loss of tension or a break in the cord members, and can prevent disengagement of the bed frame and guide rails. Also provided are a protecting device using guard net to prevent the user from falling from the bed and a cushioning device to improve the starting motion of the bed frame which eliminates shocks and also enables the driving system to be more effective and safer in its operation. |
