In the case of a method for cutting foodstuffs, especially meat, into strips and/or cubes, the material to be cut is introduced into a supply magazine and discharged via an outlet aperture (3), the emerging material being cut by a grid-type cutter (10) extending across the cross-section of the outlet aperture (3) and aligned perpendicularly to the cross-sectional plane, and by a severing cutter (11) which rotates in a plane parallel to the cross-sectional plane of the outlet aperture (3). Compressed air is blown at least approximately into the region of the cutting plane of the severing cutter (11), the direction in which the compressed air is blown being situated at least partly transversely to the direction in which the material is advanced. <IMAGE>
