A filter (2), especially a charcoal filter, for anaesthesia circulation systems which can be allocated to the circulation system in order to eliminate volatile anaesthetics from the inspiration gas by adsorption in activated charcoal, comprises a valve (1) or is connected or connectable to a valve (1) in order to remain permanently in the circulation system or to be separated therefrom if desired.
