PURPOSE:To shorten the access time to the alternate sectors by arraying the continuous (k) pieces of alternate sectors in a specific cycle. CONSTITUTION:The alternate sectors 3b are arranged in a cycle (mn+k+i) when the number of sectors included in each of concentrical or spiral tracks is referred to as n (n: an integer of 4i5) and the number of continuous alternate sectors 3b is referred to as k (k: an integer of 1, 2 or 3) respectively. In this case, (i) shows an integer of 1, 2 or 3 and (m) shows a positive integer. In such an array of sectors 3b, the subsequent sectors 3b always emerge at the downstream side in the revolving direction with the jump to the next track even though the relevant sector 3b is already used as a substitute of another defective sector. Thus a sector 3b is obtained without waiting for one revolution and the access time is shortened to the sector 3b. |
