Process for the preparation of phenyl ketones which are etherified in the 4-position

Phenyl ketones which are etherified in the 4-position can be prepared by reacting aromatic ethers which have a free 4-position with acylating agents, the process being carried out in the presence of zeolite catalysts having pore sizes of not less than 5 ANGSTROM .
