Steam cooking appliances comprise a cooking chamber in a housing for receiving the food to be cooked, it being possible to close the cooking chamber via a door articulated on the housing. A steam atmosphere for cooking food is generated inside the cooking chamber. When the door of conventional steam cooking appliances is opened, the water condensing on the inner face of the door drips onto the floor of the room in which the appliance is installed. It is proposed to arrange at the bottom edge of the door for closing the cooking chamber guiding means for catching condensation water running down on the inner face of the door and to provide these with a discharge opening so that the water which is caught can be carried away in a controlled manner.
