PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material capable of preventing fog, stable and rapid processing, by adding the scavenger of the oxidized product of a color developing agent and a development inhibitor precursor to a silver halide photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION:A silver halide photosensitive material contains a coupler reacting with the oxidized product of a color developing agent, together a precursor for releasing a development inhibitor when it contacts an alkaline processing soln., as shown by the right formulae, and a scavenger for the oxidized product of the color developing agent, such as alkylhydroquinones, arylhydroquinones, catechol derivs., and aminophenol derivs. As a result, the obtained photosensitive material has high sensitivity, superior tone reproductivity all over the exposure region, and capability of rapid and stable processing without impairing initial developability. |
