PURPOSE:To prevent transervse cracks and to improve working efficiency, by arraying bottom plates tack welded with backing strips and welding the backing strips so as to fill the spaces formed of the clearances between the bottom plates and the clearances between the backing strips then subjecting the bottom plates to butt welding with backing strips. CONSTITUTION:Bottom plates 11 tack welded with backing strips 12 on the adjacent two sides of the bottom plates are arrayed and the backing strips are welded to each other so as to fill the space parts (b) formed of the clearances between the bottom plates 11, 11' and the clearances between the backing strips. The plates 11, 11' are then subjected to butt welding with backing strips. Thus, the works are progressed sequentially from welding of the strips 12, 12 to each other to welding of the plates 11, 11 to each other by arraying the plates 11 tack welded with the strips 12, 12. |
