<p>PURPOSE:To prevent clogging in paths of central part of a monolithic carrier except predetermined peripheral paths in the carrier even if there are small defects in the peripheral parts of the monolithic carrier by disposing a blank cap to a central part of one end surface of the cylindrical monolithic carrier, and dipping the end part in a liquid slurry of a filling-up material while keeping the central paths in higher pressure than the other paths by gas. CONSTITUTION:A monolithic carrier 1 for purifying exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine contains many paths in its axial direction, forming clogged parts in its peripheral part. A blank cap 2 provided with a protruded part 3 fixed to the center of the monolithic carrier 1 by allowing an acute angle part 4 at the top of the protruded part to contact with an end surface of the monolithic carrier 1. Then, the blank cap 2 is dipped in a liquid slurry 6 of a filling-up material while holding the carrier 1 and introducing a gas into the blank cap. If a liquid level of the liquid slurry 6 is raised to above the end surface of the carrier 1, the filling-up material deposits to the periphery of the carrier 1. Thus, penetration of the filling-up material into a central path of the carrier is prevented even if there are some excavations, etc., in the periphery of the end surface of the carrier.</p> |
