PURPOSE: To realize a semiautomatic single procedure assay by providing a plurality of liquid reservoirs having different height arranged sequentially. CONSTITUTION: When a cleaning solution 9 is discharged entirely from a fluid reservoir 20, a coloring developer solution 8 contained in a liquid reservoir 19 begins to migrate in the direction of arrow A along a holding matrix 11 through capillarity. When the solution 8 arrives at a part where an antigen- sample molecule X-conjugant complex, enzyme of the conjugant converts chromatogen in the solution 8 into a measurable chromatophore. If some sample molecule X exists in a previously introduced sample, a measurable colored band or a region appears finally at the part of antigen-sample molecule X- conjugant complex. If the sample contains no sample molecule X, a band of distinguishable color does not appear on the holding matrix 11.
