<p>An absorbent member such as cotton-like pulp is covered with a liq. permeable top sheet such as a nonwoven fabric and a liq.-impermeable back sheet such as a plastic film comprises leakage-proofing means around the legs and/or the waist. The leakage-proofing means consists of a flexible flap such as a nonwoven fabric and a flexible member such as rubber. The flap consists of a leg portion projecting upward from a diaper body and inner and outer branches extending inward and outward from the leg portion. The flexible member is fitted to the branches to serve as contractive flexible gathers. The branches comes into flexible and pressure contact with the body (around the thigh and/or the waist) of a wearer to form a seal.</p>
