PURPOSE:To obtain a colloidal liquid dispersion of a metal having stable and easily handleable catalytic reduction activity by reducing a metal salt of the group VIII metal of the periodic table with a mixed solvent consisting of a lower alcohol and an aprotic polar compd. CONSTITUTION:A metal salt such as a salt of the group VIII metal of the periodic table such as Ni, Co, nickel chloride-6H2O, nickel acetate-4H2O, etc., is used for the metal salt in a colloidal liquid dispersion contg. a group VIII metal. The metal salt is dissolved in a mixed solvent of an alcohol such as methanol, ethanol, with an aprotic polar compd. such as formamide, dimethyl acetamide. When the soln. is reduced by adding a reducing agent such as NaBH4, KBH4, to the soln., a stable colloidal liquid dispersion is obtd. The product has superior activity as reducing catalyst and is extremely stable and easily handleable. |
