PURPOSE:To simultaneously measure the concns. of O2 and CO2 with good selectivity by using a detection element wherein a layer containing hemoglobin or a hemoglobin like living body substance is formed on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A detection element 4 is constituted by applying a composition, which is prepared by adding polyhydric alcohol and a water-soluble polymer material to an aqueous solution of hemoglobin or a hemoglobin like living body substance such as myohemoglobin, to a glass substrate 41 to form a gel film 42. A narrow-band filter 3 is selected, for example, to 419nm. The light generated from a light source 1 such as a halogen lamp is absorbed as light of 419nm by the element 4 through filters 2, 3 to be photoelectrically converted by a photodiode 6. Therefore, the output based on the absorption characteristic of the element 4 is obtained to be displayed on an operation display device 7. By this method, the concns. of O2 and CO2 can be simultaneously measured with good selectivity. |
