An amic acid is prepared by reacting together 3 equivalents of polyisobutenyl (M.W. 800) succinic anhydride with 2 equivalents of N-(2-amino-ethyl) piperazine.ALSO:A mineral oil composition (fuel or lubricant) contains an amic acid obtained by reacting an alkenyl succinic acid or anhydride with a polyamine containing at least two nitrogen atoms separated by at least two carbon atoms. Depending on the relative proportion of the reactants the amic acid may be represented by one of the formulae Q-A Q-A and Q-(A-Q)n where Q is <FORM:0975290/C4-C5/1> and n is 2 or more, R being an alkenyl group having 15-300 carbon atoms and A is the residue of the polyamine, and the carbonyl group in each "Q" being directly attached to a nitrogen atom of A. The polyamines include cyclic ones, e.g. N-(2-aminoethyl)-piperazine. Fuels mentioned are gasoline, diesel oil and gas oil, and S.A.E. 30 grade oil is exemplified as a lubricating oil. |
