PURPOSE:To prevent an active material from being separated and dropped from a grid substrate due to expansion and shrinkage and extend the usage life by filling and coating a positive electrode active material mixed with granular porous elastic conductors on a lead or lead alloy grid substrate to constitute a positive electrode plate. CONSTITUTION:Granular porous elastic conductors are mixed in a positive electrode active material to be filled and coated on a positive electrode plate for a nonmaintenance lead-acid battery. The granular porous conductors have elasticity and absorb the stress generated when the positive electrode active material grains are expanded at the time of a charge, the accumulation of stress on the filled active material is dissolved. On the other hand, the compressed elastic grains are elastically restored as the expansion force is released when the volume of the active material is shrunk at the time of a charge, good conductivity is invariably maintained among the positive electrode active material grains. Peeling and dropping from a grid substrate face is prevented, the cycle life is increased. |
