PURPOSE: To detect the presence or absence of air bubbles within a ducting part clamped by a device by irradiating light on a duct for continuous dosing of medicine, etc., and detecting reflected light at an inner diameter side. CONSTITUTION: In a base part 14 of an empty vessel detector 10, a V shape recess 24 is arranged, a light emitting diode(LED) 38 is arranged on one side of the recess 24, and a LED sensor 42 is arranged nearby for receiving light from LED 38. On the other side of the recess 24, a tubular/non-tubular light sensor 46 is arranged for receiving light coming across the recess 24. Under the light sensor 46, a light sensor 50 for tube liquid is arranged and followed by a channel 52 of the recess 24. A polysulphone filter 54 which allows only infrared ray to permeate, is arranged in the V shape recess 24. If a ducting segment 12 is arranged suitably in the recess 24, light from LED 38 is refracted upward and does not arrive at the light sensor 46. If light encounters with the air in the duct 12, it is reflected downward by the inner wall and received by the light sensor 50 for tube liquid, to identify the presence of air.
