PURPOSE:To achieve the density of a developed visible image, which correctly reflects the concentration of developer, by providing a reference density pattern in the optical scanning area of an optical scanning image recorder, apart from an original, and setting the light quantity of an optical scanning means constant, irrespective of a set recording density, when said means scans the reference density pattern. CONSTITUTION:The reference density pattern is provided in the optical scanning area outside the original. Namely, the reference density pattern 4 is applied to the rear surface of an original scale 3 provided on the left end of a contact glass 1, and is optically scanned prior to scanning the original optically. When the original is scanned, its pattern is optically scanned to form a corresponding electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive body, and a colored component of developer is made to adhere to the electrostatic latent image to form a visible image. Afterwards, to adjust the concentration of the developer based on the density of the visible image, the light quantity of the optical scanning means, which is required for optically scanning the reference density pattern, is set constant, irrespective of a set recording density. Thus, the density of the developed visible image correctly reflects the concentration of the developer. |
