PURPOSE: To increase the amount of argon recovery, by replacing an evaporation tray in the low-pressure column and argon branch column of a column distillation system with the utilization of a structured packed material. CONSTITUTION: A structured or systematic packed material is used instead of an evaporation tray. The structured or, systematic packed material is provided so that liquid flows on a surface in a direction opposing to that of the flow of gas, the mixture of the liquid and/or vapor is accelerated on the surface in a direction being vertical to that of a main flow, and a large amount of materials can be moved with a low-pressure loss. Liquid phase flow adheres to evaporation phase flow, a large amount of the materials is moved, and the liquid phase flow is allowed to adhere to the evaporation phase flow by the structured packed material in low-pressure and argon branch columns, thus increasing the amount of argon recovery. |
