PURPOSE:To add a natural and abundant musical expression in accordance with strength for picking a string by bringing a characteristic of a musical tone whose sounding is started by a musical tone generating means or a musical tone which is sounding to variable control in accordance with pitch variation information and velocity information. CONSTITUTION:When a input waveform signal is started to be detected by picking a string, a pitch extracting means 2 extracts successively pitch information, based thereon, and simultaneously, a velocity extracting means extracts velocity information. In this state, based on the pitch variation information, a musical tone control means 3 controls a characteristic of a musical tone whose sounding is started by a musical tone generating means 6 or a musical tone which is sounding, for instance, a tone color (in addition, a sound volume, and moreover, a sound pitch are applicable), and simultaneously, it is controlled by the velocity information, as well.
