PURPOSE:To prevent crack in a die for continuous casting and to extend the service life of the die by arranging the specific grooves on the outer face of the die over the whole length of the die along metal drawing direction. CONSTITUTION:One line or plural lines of the grooves 4 possessing 2-50% surface area to outer face of the die 1 are on the outer surface of the die 1 over the whole length of the die 6 along the metal drawing direction. Graphite die 1 during continuous casting develops compressed stress on the inner face and tensile stress on the outer face. Therefore, as the grooves 4 at outer face are widened, the tensile stress is reduced and crack in the die 1 can be prevented. |
