METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURING FLAT TYPE MULTIFIBER OPTICAL CABLE

PURPOSE:To make a resin layer thin and to secure adhesion by supplying coating liquid to an optical fiber parallel surface at right angles to a plane and applying part of the liquid while making it flow out toward both edge parts of an optical fiber array. CONSTITUTION:The coating liquid is supplied to the parallel surface of the optical fiber 10 perpendicularly and part of the coating liquid is applied while made to flow out in directions 16 and 16' of both edge parts of the optical fiber array. Excessive resin can be removed from side holes 16 and 16', so the problems of thickness reduction and deviation are eliminated. The flows of the resin to the side holes not only remove pressure raised by the optical fiber parallel surface, but also prevent an optical fiber element wire 10 from contacting the internal wall of a die with resin flowing along the die wall surface. Consequently, the united coating of the optical fiber element wire is formed thinly to uniform thickness without any resin cutting, etc.
