PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber from damaging by fitting and fixing the tip part of a metallic pipe to the rear end part of the ferrule of the optical fiber sheathed with the metallic pipe. CONSTITUTION:When the optical fiber is connected to an optical fiber or optical device by using an optical connector 1 which has a ferrule 14, the tip part of the metallic pipe T is fitted and fixed to the rear end part of the ferrule 14. The depth of a fitting hole is about 1-3 times as large as the external diameter of the metallic pipe T. When the ferrule 14 is fixed to the metallic pipe T, adhesion, soldering, or caulking is employed and when the ferrule is fixed detachably, threadable coupling, clamping by the elastic deformation of the metallic pipe tip part, clamping by a nut, a bayonet, etc., is used. Consequently, the tip of the metallic pipe T never swings about the optical fiber C and the metallic pipe T falls from the optical connector, so the optical fiber C is prevented from being disconnected and transmission loss is eliminated. |
