PURPOSE:To obtain a satisfactory green sheet and a varistor having superior electrical characteristics with water as a dispersion medium when powder of a ZnO-based compsn. for a varistor and a binder are dispersed in water and molded by specifying the binder. CONSTITUTION:Powder of a ZnO-based compsn. for a varistor and a binder consisting of acrylic resin and PVA are dispersed in water to prepare a slurry for molding and this slurry is molded to form a green sheet. Since the binder well disperses and bonds the powder, the formed green sheet has uniform density. The green sheet is then blanked, e.g., with a punch to form a disk, the binder in the disk is burned by heating and the disk is further heated at a high temp. to obtain a varistor element. |
