PURPOSE:To lighten the burden of a user by receiving the outline shape.size of a picture to be inserted and data to show a position where it is to be inserted, and setting a printable area excepting a picture area on printing space as a document area. CONSTITUTION:A picture area setting means 4 which receives the outline shape and size, etc., of the picture to be inserted and the data to show the position to be inserted, and decides and sets an area including, at least, the picture to be inserted on the printing space to be the picture area, and a document area setting means 5 which decides and sets the printable area excepting the picture area on the same printing space to be the document area are provided. Accordingly, in a case that a page on which a character and the picture are mixed is composed by an automatic composing system, the vacant area excepting the picture is set automatically as a document input area by only instructing the inserted position, and the size, etc., of the picture. Thus, work for the user to set many rectangular vacant areas excepting the picture like the past time can be dispensed with. |
