PURPOSE: To easily separate two kinds of sea plants by treating a mixture composed of λ-carrageenin-contg. sea plants and K-carrageenin-contg. sea plants with an aq. soln. contg. specific cation, flocculating the one kind of the sea plants and extruding these sea plants through a perforated surface. CONSTITUTION: The aq. soln. of pH of about >=10 contg. the cation selected from ammonium, K, Rb, Cs, Ca, Ba, Sr and Mg is prepd. The mixture composed of the λ-carrageenin-contg. sea plants (hereafter abbreviated as Lambda sea plants) and the K-carrageenin-contg. sea plants (hereafter abbreviated as Kappa sea plants) is treated at 5 to 95 deg.C. As a result, the water is absorbed only into the Lambda sea plants to hydrate and flocculate the sea plants to a tacky adhesive state. The treated mixture 30 is then transferred by a pressing conveyor 16 and is pressed to the perforated drum 10. Only the Lambda sea plants are extruded through the many small holes of the drum 10 and the Kappa sea plants remaining on the surface of the drum 10 are scraped by a scraper 36. |
