The subject matter of the invention concerns methods and arrangements for driving laser diodes which are used in an optical transmitter of an information transmission system. Multi-mode laser diodes with passive waveguiding are used to broaden the emitted spectrum by means of the superimposition method. According to the invention, to prevent jitter which interferes with the information transmission, the maintenance of a strict phase relationship between the information signal (SD) and the superimposed radio-frequency signal (SHF) or the disabling of the latter is provided in each case at the beginning and at the end of a period length (TD) of the information signal (SD) during a time period (THF) which is short compared with this period length (TD). <IMAGE> |
