PURPOSE:To continue the recording of normal image quality even when trouble is generated, by providing a plurality of independently drivable heads and selecting the block of the head capable of performing normal recording to control the recording of the selected block. CONSTITUTION:A recording head 6 is constituted of two or more independently drivable heads. For example, when the emission abnormality caused by clogging of a nozzle 6-4 is detected by a detector 22 such as an optical sensor, a detection signal 22S is supplied to a control part 20 from the detector 22. The control part 20 receives the signal 22S to emits a head selection signal 24 allowing the remaining normal heads 6-1, 6-2, 6-3 to perform recording, a reading signal 25 controlling the image data corresponding to three pixels at once from a line memory in correspondence to the selected heads and a scanning speed control signal 26 increasing a carriage moving speed, that is, a scanning speed by 3/4 times as compared with that at a usual time corresponding to the number of read pixels to the recording head 6 and the line memory 21. Image data are simultaneously read by three pixels and recording is performed at a carriage moving speed 3/4 times that at a usual time by three normal heads 6-1, 6-2, 6-3. |
