The invention relates to an external surgical joint fixator. The fixator according to the invention is characterised in that it comprises two arms 1, 2 joined together by a joint 3, 4 comprising angular-position locking means 5, each arm 1, 2 carrying at least one jointed clamp-holder unit comprising a slide 6 and at least one support 7 provided with tapped holes 8 which are transverse to the axis of the arm 1, 2 for receiving a clamp 9, 10, 11 or an angle reverse 12 for a clamp 9, 10, 11, the slide 6 and the support 7 being fitted with position-locking means 14, each clamp consisting of two jaws 9, 10 fastened by a screw 11 on a pin intended to be implanted in a bone and being locked angularly by a screw 13.
