PURPOSE:To provide the subject lubricating oil enabling produce metal material such as steel plates, copper plates or aluminum plates having excellent lubricity and surface qualities by containing a specific amount of a polyhydric alcohol ester esterified with a specified long chain fatty acid and a specified short chain fatty acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective lubricating oil contains 10-100wt.% of a polyhydric alcohol ester produced by esterifying a polyhydric alcohol such as neopentyl glycol, trimethylolpropane, pentaerythritol or glycerol with (A) >=1mol of a 12-22C long chain fatty acid such as lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, arachic acid, behenic acid or erucic acid and (B) >=1mol of a 1-6C short chain fatty acid such as formic acid, acetic acid, butyric acid or caproic acid. |
