PURPOSE:To obtain an antibacterial agent effective for various skin disease such as acne vulgaris and for oral cavity, having wide antibacterial effect, containing sempervirol. CONSTITUTION:Sempervirol [that is: 4b,5,6,7,8,8a,9,10-octahydro-3-isopropyl-4b,8,8- trimethyl-(4bs-trans)-2-phenanthrenol] which is a natural substance contained in a plant of Pinaceae, etc., also possible to be synthesized and expressed by the formula is contained in the aimed antibacterial agent as active ingredient. Said active ingredient is added to an external agent of skin or a composition for mouth in a ratio of 0.0001-10wt.%, more preferably 0.01-1.0wt.%. Sempervirol shows excellent antibacterial activity to cause fungus of periodontal disease such as carious tooth as a Gram-positive fungus, especially Gram-positive anaerobic fungus. |
