The charging of this edge mill takes place continuously and uniformly on the entire width of the grinding track with the material-feed belt (3). Both the grinding track and the grid track have their own tracks which extend about the entire circumference. The edge-mill bed (10) is constructed so as to rotate so that the runners (6) rotate on the spot. By this means, the large power losses are avoided. Lighter runners can now be used with the same processing effect which also results in a correspondingly large saving of the power to be expended, makes possible a lighter edge-mill design and, overall, leads to substantially more favourable manufacturing and operating costs. The said edge mill can optionally be equipped with an upper or lower drive. <IMAGE>
