DESTRUCTION OF FERROALLOY

PURPOSE: To disintegrate ferroalloys under safe working conditions and to guarantee the high quality of powder by adding lumps of a ferroalloy to a hydrogen ion field, disintegrating them and refining the resultant disintegrated material with water to cause delayed hydrogen cracking. CONSTITUTION: Lumps of ferroalloy of >3 mm (ordinary 5-20 mm) grain size are added to a hydrogen ion electrolysis current occurring at the time of electrolysis of water and subjected to multi-directional brittle hydrogen cracking to disintegrate them. The resultant powder is separated from an electrolyte and refined with water contacting with air to allow large particles to cause the delayed hydrogen cracking to disintegrate the oversize particles. Subsequently, the resultant powder of required grain size is dried, then, passed through a sieve and separated into grain size divisions of required grain size, oversize and undersize.
