Process for the preparation of iron-oxide- and chromium-oxide-containing catalysts for high temperature conversion

The application relates to the preparation of a sulphur-free iron-oxide- and chromium-oxide-containing high temperature conversion catalyst, an iron oxide being used which is prepared from iron carbonyl and which has a mean grain size below 10 mu m and a specific surface area of more than 10 m<2>/g. The chromium oxide component is applied to the iron oxide by precipitation. The chromium component used is CrO3 and is precipitated as insoluble chromium(III) compounds by reducing agents.
