Process for recovering heat from flue gases

The process can be applied to recovering heat from flue gases and, owing to an integrated flue gas desulphurisation, is particularly important for sectors having high emissions of flue gas pollutants. According to the invention, the flue gas is brought into direct contact with a fluid circulated heat carrier which absorbs sulphur-containing flue gas pollutants and water vapour, boils above 100@C and, in comparison to water, has a lower water vapour partial pressure. The heat carrier is heated to temperatures above 100@C and the flue gas is brought to a temperature sufficient for discharge to the open atmosphere. <IMAGE>
