The support chock according to the invention, which is intended in particular for use in pneumatic stowing operations, has a four-bar mechanism (lemniscate mechanism 27) between its props (3, 4) standing one behind the other in the advancing direction. The roof-bar link (28) of the four-bar mechanism is designed as a wide plate link which is provided on the working-face side with a recess (31) for accommodating the prop(s) (3) on the working-face side. The roof-bar-connecting joints (32) of the four-bar mechanism lie on the working-face side in front of the head joint(s) (6) of the prop(s) (3) on the working-face side. The goaf-side guide link (30) of the four-bar mechanism (27) is distinctly reduced in width and arranged in such a way that it plunges into the space between the two goaf-side props (4) during the prop retraction. The face-side guide link (29) of the four-bar mechanism has a larger width than the goaf-side guide link (30). Its width only needs to be slightly smaller than that of the roof-bar link (28).
