Silencer for the internal combustion engine of motor vehicles, especially three-wheelers, which guarantees a reduction in sound sufficient to meet the statutory provisions on noise protection in all vehicle speed and gear shift ranges, including first gear, comprising partially overlapping gas-ducting pipes arranged in an elongated, tubular casing, in front of the outlet openings of which pipes baffle plates are arranged in such a way that a large part of the exhaust gas flow is deflected by approx. 180@ and after further deflection on deflection devices is led into the next gas-ducting pipe, and the exhaust gas flow, due to the multiple reflection, loses most of its energy before it leaves the exhaust system.
