In a film-data reading device for use in a photographic camera for film cartridges, which carry code patterns consisting of electrically conductive and electrically insulated code zones, each code zone being assigned a carrier part, which is mounted in the camera housing in a slightly tiltable and in an electrically insulated manner and is resiliently biased with respect to the code zone, out of the section, facing the code pattern, of which carrier part contacts emerge which can be brought into contact with the code zone, a contact plate (5) which projects towards the code zone (4a) is connected to the carrier part (6), which contact plate (5) has a closed (continuous) contact edge (5a, 5b) which can be brought into contact with the code zone (4a). <IMAGE>
