The invention relates to a sampler (1), particularly for picking up samples from the sediment and/or the aqueous layer near the bottom of a watercourse. The open-ended, tubular sampling container (8) is mounted as an extension of a blade member (2) in a manner that blade member (2) and sampling container (8) make up a substantially continuous tube. The bottom end opening of blade member (2) is adapted to be closed by means of a closing plate (11) provided with two torque arms (10) which are preferably journalled at the central portion thereof to be pivotable relative to the body member. Upon releasing the locking of clamping means (5), said clamping means is adapted to release the closing plate hold-open device (6) as well as the sampler (1) hoisting means (9) whereby, upon lifting the hoisting means, its extensions (7) first draw closing plate (11) in front of the opening in blade member (2) of the sampler body whereafter, as hoisting is continued, the sampler itself begins to rise. |
