A roof structure (1), which is suitable in particular for a lightweight flat roof for industrial buildings, is composed of a room-side covering (3), of a sheeting (7) which is arranged above this and is intended as a vapour barrier, of an insulating layer (9) and of an exterior covering. The exterior covering is made up of a plurality of covering webs (11) which form a joint region at their borders (13). In the joint region (15), the covering webs and the covering (3) are permeable with respect to hot gases, with the result that rising hot air can escape into the open in the event of a fire. Consequently, the stability of the building in the event of a fire is increased. A supporting element (23) between the borders (13) of the covering webs (11) bears the latter and keeps them at a defined spacing and, if appropriate, bears a covering moulding (15) in addition. <IMAGE>
