In a combined process for a biological recultivation treatment, xenobiotically contaminated soil is removed from the contaminated site and placed into a combined treatment plant, in which the soil to be treated is subjected to an anaerobic treatment and, at a different point in time, to an aerobic treatment. The sequence of anaerobic treatment and aerobic treatment can be chosen to suit the type of contamination. An alternation of a plurality of anaerobic and aerobic treatment operations can also be provided. A combined treatment plant can be equipped, for example, with a sludge treatment basin for anaerobic treatment and, arranged next to it, a treatment section for aerobic treatment. Also suitable are plants in which large sealed containers are combined with each other, for example digestion towers for the anaerobic treatment and rotary tube plants for the aerobic treatment.
