The precursor to the adhesive consists of the liquid monomer of an elastomer whose viscosity can be regulated by the addition of fillers or soluble, non-rigid polymers. When hoses slide in one another the precursor acts as a lubricant. After joining has been carried out the precursor is polymerised to form a flexible adhesive.
