<p>A horizontal boring and milling machine has a standard (20) with a tool spindle (25) which can be adjusted along its own spindle axis (Z) and along the other two axes (X, Y) of a three-dimensional co-ordinate system (X, Y, Z), and a workpiece support (30) which can be rotated stepwise about a swivelling axis (A). The swivelling axis (A) extends horizontally and at right angles to the spindle axis (Z). The workpiece support (30) is designed to clamp a bar of material (18), whose axis coincides with the swivelling axis (A) and whose end section forms a workpiece to be machined by the tool spindle (25). A sectioning unit (26) mounted on the standard (20) severs a workpiece (18') to be processed from the bar of material (18) in each working cycle. The resulting sectioned surface can be further machined by the horizontal boring and milling machine.</p> |
