The invention relates to a stepladder having two ladder parts which are connected in an articulated manner to one another in the upper region, each have two strings and of which at least one is provided with steps, in the case of which stepladder, beneath the articulation axis of the ladder parts, a platform is fitted pivotably on one ladder part, with the result that said platform can be moved into a horizontal operating position and a pivoted-in storage position. The safety requirements in terms of securing the platform in the operating position are fulfilled in a simple manner in that the platform comprises two platform halves, of which each is fitted in an articulated manner on one of the two ladder parts, and in that the mutually facing sides of the platform halves are pivotably connected to one another such that they are mutually supported one on the other in the operating position and can be pivoted upwards into the storage position.
