PURPOSE:To remove the projections on a magnetic medium without forming defects on the surface of the medium by arranging a shift sensor for measuring the distance between the magnetic medium and a varnishing head and installing an actuator for keeping said distance constant onto the varnishing head. CONSTITUTION:The distance between a magnetic medium 3 and a varnishing head 4 equipped with a removed chip discharging suction pipe 16 is measured by a shift sensor 6. A piezoelectric actuator 8 installed onto the varnishing head 4 so as to keep said distance constant is drive-controlled by a servocircuit 7 and an amplifier 9 on the basis of the shift variation signal supplied from the shift sensor 6, and the interval between the medium 3 and the head 4 is kept minute in noncontact form or with exceedingly small load, and the projections 15 on the medium 3 can be removed by the head 4 without forming defects on the surface of the medium 3. The layer of the removed projections 15 is sucked by the suction pipe 16 and discharged. |
