In inverted-seam sewn footwear, in which a shaft (S) is sewn firmly on the one hand on a frame-shaped insertion lip (E) situated below the insole (B) and on the other hand on a midsole (Z) situated below the insertion lip (E), watertightness of the inner space of the footwear is achieved by a watertight and water-vapour-permeable functional layer (M) being fixed, by means of a lasting insert (ZW), on the underside edge region of the insole (B) and a sealing layer (D) made of watertight material being injected onto the underside of the insole (B) and of the lasting insert (ZW). <IMAGE>
