The object is intended to be to provide a device for the measurement of direct current, by means of which a direct current measurement is made possible with the lowest possible power loss and space requirement, even in the high current range. This is achieved by means of a rail (101) made of electrically conductive material with a measuring device (105) to measure the voltage drop across the rail, a temperature measuring device (106, 107) to measure the temperature of the rail (101), with a reference device (108), and a balancing device (109) for balancing the voltage and temperature measured values. <IMAGE>
