A device for catching small mammal pests is specified which has a striking bow (2) which is moved by a spring (4), a holder (1), a mechanism for locking and releasing the striking bow (2) and a receptacle (16) for a piece of bait. The striking bow (2) and the holder (1) are two frame-like components which can be rotated about a common axis, are arranged one inside the other and are made of a mechanically stable material. The striking bow (2) is locked and released again by a lever (8) which is equipped with a hook (11), is movably mounted on the holder (1) at one end and, in the operating position, rests with its free end on an abutment (16) of the device, which abutment is independent of the striking bow (2) and is arranged inside the holder (1). <IMAGE>
