The single- and multiple-track linear guide with a bearing carrier consists of one or more guide profiles (4) and a plurality of bearing carriers (1). The bearing carrier (1), with its transverse axes A and B, accommodates in the bearings (3) any desired number of guide rollers (2) with any desired shape of peripheral surface. The bearings (3), which are connected to the guide rollers (2), can be displaced in the bore (16) to adjust the motional play or preload, allowing any desired play or preload to be set without a special mechanism. The geometrical cross-sectional shape of the guide profiles (4) is determined by the circumferential surfaces of the guide rollers (2) and, as a result, any desired cross-sectional shape can be produced. In contrast to other linear guides, the subject-matter of the invention allows the use even of nonmetallic materials for the guide rollers (2) and the guide profiles (4) and bearings (3), making possible not only very quiet running but also use in all areas of work. <IMAGE>
